Apparently no alchohol is being sold in South Africa for the duration of their lockdown. We are lucky.

Oh god. I can’t bear to imagine how horrendous it is in SA now. At the ‘best’ of times it’s tough for most people. With even more restrictions - esp on alcohol - it’s going to be absolute chaos.

I’m usually on holiday there at this time of year. I feel very lucky that I got a cat and didn’t want to leave her. I love that country.

Cartons of beer are now reappearing on our local Tesco's shelves, plus all the other, usual, bottles of wines and spirits.

A local supermarket is restricting sales to three of the same item. I picked up six bottles of wine and upon reaching the till, asked if that would be acceptable. 'Certainly', said the cashier. 'They're considered essential'. I like that lady. :o)
