Absolutely right Woof. Much to be admired about him in my view.
fair enough woofie :)
He's about the only one that I would say as been as honest as he can about the situation. so a thumbs up from me.
He's doing a grand job under the circumstances. We don't want a Laughing Policeman talking to us. We need someone with some gravitas and knowledge. Yes, he seems emotionless but we don't need that. We need someone to tell us the facts as far as they can be told.
oh, better not be Peter Kay, then. And I wouldn't want Ricky Gervais. Roy Hudd's out. And Oliver Hardy. I'll have to think about it.
sorry, that was for Gromit, not Tilly or anyone else.

In real life I'm fine with Whitty or anyone who gives it straight. Who was the guy who did the daily briefings on the Falklands and sounded like an undertaker?
Experts eh? What are they thinking about, coming on the telly as themselves, telling us facts an' that?
When you are a good consultant physician who has spent much of their working lives giving people frightening news, you learn to control your emotion. If someone breaks down in front of you, they need support and strength not for the doc to break down too. I saw the more informal interview he did when he said if we get through this with only 20, 000 deaths we will be doing well and he didn’t look emotionless then.
Poor man, am I the only person then that has never noticed his shirt or the fact that he doesnt blink until the end of his announcement?

jno
That would of been Ian McDonald.
no I have noticed his shirts too.
just as a matter of interest what's wrong/right with his shirts?
they don't fit him and look grey...like old easy care shirts that have been washed loads. He looks like other dedicated intellectual consultants that I have known.
