Hi folks.
I have dug out an ancient tapestry kit that I have had around for probably about 20 years.
It is from The Craft Collection Terry Mills and clearly says on the box that full instructions are included.
Sadly, on opening the box, all I can see is a list of colours, but no instructions.
It is a printed tapestry, so I can see where the colours have to go ..but I don't know whether to use full width wool or 1 or 2 strands. The canvas is FSK 12 and the wool is Patterna Persian Pure New Wool tapestry yarn.
I am presuming that I should be doing tent stitch....but the kit is silent on this too.
Can anyone offer any advice ? Or should I do a few test patches with different number of strands?
Thanks.

Yes tent stitch, on the side of the canvas should be a row of coloured dots. Match the yarn colours to the dots tying a small piece of yarn to its appropriate dot helps you keep the colours right.
I have never split tapestry yarn unless it was corded not likely in kits. Then a single strand is used for small areas so use it as it is. You will need to work it on a frame if you want it to keep really flat but for a first attempt it's probably ok to try without.

Thank you Rowanwitch.

Fortunately I have a frame....I did do some tapestry before, but that was many years ago and I have forgotten the ins and outs if you'll pardon the pun.
Much more comfortable with cross stitch now...but haven't done any of that for a few years either....to much other stuff to do ....

Working my way through the hanks and lengths doing what you said and matching the colours to the dots on the canvas.

Thanks again.
Stay safe, stay home.
