For some reason I have been locked out of Skype, despite never actually using ti. How to get back in. Easy, they will send me a text message to my mobile phone. Great, except that I do not own one as we live in a Notspot.

Ain't got Wi-fi either. Broadband is on an Ethernet cable. Yes I did download Skype, but before I could use it (and I did add an Email address which is also locked now)I got the message saying I was locked out.
Don't much care as I would not use Skype in any case as there is no-one I really want to talk to who has it.
That is the trouble with being of a generation which is not really into social media.
Let's get this right then. You did sign up to Skype, you did provide an email address, you did let the skype account and the email facility lapse, and you do not want a mobile phone. I think we are probably wasting our time then. You seem happier not being contacted or being in contact. Byee.
If you don't care, is there a problem?
Surely text messages don't go over WiFi. WhatsApp and similar do though.
Why not sign up with a different email adresss - even if its one you create purely for Skype.
All those who boast they don't 'do' social media - what do you think AB is?
AB is a forum.
where people get together socially
Ironically Geezer.....you can send SMS messages from a mobile phone using..............Skype. Text messaging predates wifi and the internet and was therefor never designed to utilise it. I think some iphone apps can also use the web for text messages but certainly not a 10 quid Tesco phone.
One learns something new every day. And these get transferred to the mobile service supplier's network near the destination, or can only be delivered to a skype user ?
Incidentally, you don't need to spend money to keep a mobile phone live. If you call the phone from another number BUT DON'T ANSWER IT or call another number from the mobile BUT DON'T ANSWER IT you keep the SIM live without it costing anything.
