Upper arm are preferable.
Armband. If you want a recommendation, I bought this one just over a month ago and it's been working well ...

Definitely upper-arm...because it's then at the same height as your heart. And a fairly basic Omron is all you need....no need for all the extra features (which put the cost up).
Yep, but I can't recommend one I haven't got ...
I got mine from Boots about 4-5 years ago. Upper arm one. I've been very pleased with it. Cost £29 then...
^^^ totally agree, it's where doctors and nurses take it.
We have an Omron which my doctor calibrated for me and it proved to be accurate
