Anyone got the above -
Do you try and get a reduction on the renewal premium ?

I always do - and in the past always get a reduction of around 20%

However they won't budge from a reduction of 10% this time

Has any one on here , tried to negotiate a reduction on your latest premium - if so what percentage reduction did you manage to get ?

We got 20% two days ago, no problem.
Had my MIL on BG she took it into her head to change mid contract to a cheaper company!
Had nothing but trouble no service done won’t come out as saying maintenance is not covered!
Can’t wait till we get there in July to sort them out again!
Also, they replaced the hall radiator three weeks ago at no cost

What telephone number did you dial and what department did you get through to ?

What day of the week and what time of day did you ring ?

Did you have to call them out during the previous cover period ?
Our rental is due up in April. We wanted to increase from homecare 2 to homecare 3, having checked online what the premium would be.
When we rang up we were quoted a higher figure and told the lower figure was for new customers...but she would see what she could do, and immediately reduced it by 20%
The renewal email had a telephone number on it.

It could be that you got the 20% because you were increasing the level of cover

I'll leave mine for another week or so and ring again

I remember someone saying that the staff of these type of companies , get allocated discounts to offer each week

Depending on when you ring will depend on what level of offer they have left
You could be right Bazile, although just like you we’ve been given 20% off every year since we started this a long long time ago.
I can see from reading in here that some people think it’s a rip off. We don’t, and will continue with it.
I do the dance with BG and Direct Line every year, always getting a reduction on the renewal quote
Auto renewal is just jam for the insurance companies
I have the British Gas basic level Homecare - the £60 excess per call-out is optional i.e. you can pay a higher premium and get rid of the excess. We've been with them for 30 years and have always been happy with their engineers.
