nor me, though it's absurd isn't it....
If there has been any accident involving the police, is it not routine to investigate the cause?

Ordinarily yes......but in the circumstances and current security climate one would have thought that an in-depth investigation leaving two specialist officers suspended might have been waived.
That’s one less armed response crew in an already stretched resource.
Procedures have to be followed as disappointing as it may seem.
I hope they check that officers had their caps on when they exited their vehicle.
Wouldn't do to be improperly dressed on duty.
Roolz is roolz.

Indeed! Just like the procedure that tells the Police to attend such incidents ‘post-haste’ in order to preserve life and limb.
Normally the Police Federation don’t respond as they understand the process but even they’re obviously more than a tad peeved in the circumstances.
Maybe in future they’ll advise officers to attend terrorist incidents without blue lights, sirens and observe the speed limit in order to avoid such repercussions.
Did they get to Streatham in time to deal with the incident or were they busy dealing with the crash and the injured party?

I see nothing wrong in the investigation even if only to learn lessons in how to reduce the likelihood of a similar accident in the future.

It should be looked at, but not like this on this particular incident. What a waste of expensively trained resources.
good we are agreed that if there is an emergency like
stabby stabby on streatham high street
then the police cannot mow down pedestrians on the way and say
oops te'bble sozza - emergency you know

chilldo you work in theatres and so you KNOW that emergencies are not an excuse when you get things wrong
people expect you to get things right
even if it is a matter of life and death !

aye-ah !

But what happens when the ambulance didn’t get the patient to theatre quickly enough from the RTC or the aneurysm at home?
The very nature of an ‘emergency’(especially a terrorist one) often requires corners to be cut and certain protocols avoided.
I’ve seen newborns pulled from a womb by a consultant wearing no theatre attire whatsoever on more than one occasion, dressed in shirt, tie and obligatory white coat!
Sprinted from clinic, dashed into theatre, barged the SHO out of the way and removed the stuck baby post-haste.
It saved the child’s life in what was a desperately fraught situation.
Had he followed procedure, the infant would have died or suffered brain damage.
What would happen if the ambulance crashed on the way to an emergency?
"Drivers responding to incidents who consider it necessary to make use of legal driving exemptions and/or use of emergency equipment will ensure that their standard of driving complies with the principles of ‘Roadcraft’. They must always ensure that their speed of approach to hazards will permit them to stop safely within the distance they can see to be clear."
That's what ACPO say but the guidance contained in 'Roadcraft' was written back in the time of gentleman villains and not homicidal religious maniacs.
It is the hardest thing in the world to do to turn the blues and twos on and then drive conservatively...
