Hoping that it doesn’t rise too much in the coming days but inevitably it will, I fear.

Chilldoubt, Yes I've told her that. The problem is those who are not taking this seriously are probably the ones who will pass it on to other people. For those of us who could actually die if we got it -well it IS serious!
16.34 are you asking me? If so I didn't tell you that at all, I was answering the question posed by bookbinder (post 2 at 1600 if you prefer) on what I was doing.
Mainly those who have been abroad or in contact with someone who has been. Still hope for containment then.
I think all we can do is to react as if there was any virus currently present in our location - flu, Norovirus etc and behave sensibly in accordance with our own circumstances.

Keep an eye on the News for any more advice from WHO and NHS.
You shouldn't fear the virus any more then you fear the flu. Epidemics happen. Some folk catch them, far fewer die from them. It's a concern globally rather than individually.
16.42 you say that, it seems the fear as taken the world by storm, so I'm asking you, why would anyone not fear a virus that's spread round the world in no time at all.
There's not much you can do really apart from keep washing your hands and keep them away from your face. You don`t have to just be near someone who has it (by near the WHO means within about 3 feet), you are going to be exposed to the virus if it is on money, self serve screens, immigration touch pads and just about anything really. Then you touch your mobile phone, car steering wheel etc. Meticulous hygiene is the only way. As for fear, there is no point. You can be careful and scared or careful and not scared. Having fear makes no difference.
I dropped someone off at Stansted airport this afternoon - I think I saw about five people coming through arrivals wearing masks - everyone else was just carrying on as normal. I think the media is to blame for ramping up the scaremongering and as for facebook well they would have us all dead in our beds the way its going. When you look at how many people we come into contact with on a daily basis, how we touch various surfaces, and breathe in shared air then if we tried to avoid it we would have to live in a bubble.
Here's a thought - so we are up to 35 cases in the UK now - but shouldn't we now take off the first 8 cases that are no longer infected? And then as each person recovers (which presumably most will) remove them from the number affected? Might be classes as creative accounting but would make the numbers seem hardly worth bothering about.
What it thousands of people are affected at once?
There’d come a point in an uncontrolled outbreak where it would probably be impossible to keep track of the mild cases. Never mind “tick off” the cured ones.
And “number of people who have been infected” is important to know as it gives an idea of the disease’s ability to spread.
what is worrying is that some that were deemed clear of the virus, now have it.
With people doing this sort of thing no wonder the bugs are getting about , you've got to give it to these religious people if they are not hitting each other about the head they find something else to thin the population down with
