Just had a phone call from ‘google’. Threatened to deactivate my laptop/computer because I said I hadn’t got a computer or laptop, just an iPad. Sure this was a scam but found it rather disturbing. To my ‘you can’t do that’ the reply was ‘ I can’ End of call. As I have no computer ..... so what, you may ask. Don’t like to be threatened.

Best just ignore it.
Scam - ignore.
Don't enter into discussion with them - any of them. Put the phone down immediately.

Thanks for the comments. I normally put the phone down on them when I realise it’s the usual broadband computer scam. But the threat discombobulated me!!
How can Google deactivate your computer? Yes its disturbing to get these calls but a couple of minutes thinking it through will make one realise how ridiculous some of these phone calls are. None of these huge companies EVER make calls to customers,so don't worry and next time say nothing just put the phone down.
Dont worry about this, everybody gets these, just hold the phone and say nothing until they ring off.x
Google is a search engine. There are many search engines. Firefox, Bing, etc. You are most definitely being scammed by some sad money sucking person. Ignore, as you would a wasp, don't engage.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my issue with a phone scam. And yes, the advice to put the phone down and not engage, which I normally do anyway and don’t know why I didn’t this time, is spot on.
