Only sheer luck that no one died, certainly not by judgement.
Was it a foreign lorry I wonder.
He is driving for a living, surely he knows that there are cameras every where. People like him are dangerous.
I saw that on the BBC website, Canary42.

While I'm obviously not defending that idiotic driver, the vast majority of truckers on our roads are far better drivers than most people behing the wheels of cars.

During the 2½ years I spent 'trade plating', I hitched well over a thousand lifts from truckers, van drivers and car drivers, so I got to see close up what their standards of driving were like. Very few truckers ever gave me cause for concern with the standard of their driving but there were several occasions when I had to ask a car driver to let me out because I feared for my life!
I know of a lorry driver who (not driving a lorry at the time) clocked up two speeding tickets on the same road in a fortnight despite knowing that it's covered by average speed cameras for the entire length of the dual carriageway.

You don't have to be clever.
My comments are only in regard to the incident above, both my late Husband and my Dad had stints as HGV drivers with unblemished records as very many do.
None of the newspaper articles actually name the man, that's not usually what happens
Driving back from the South after visiting my daughter, I missed a junction. It only took me 20 minutes to carry on and get back on the right road. Ridiculous driving.
could well be, tonyav, expecting an on-ramp but getting an off-ramp instead. I wonder if he ended up going in the wrong direction on the motorway?
Douglas:
Some people seem to be totally oblivious to a multitude of signs warning them about average speed cameras, including this guy:

have they caught him yet, Buenchico?
Almost certainly a non UK registered truck, as there is no kerb mirror fitted above the left door and the above windscreen mirror is on the right side, so a left hand drive truck. What is odd to me is why the driver didn't just go over the top of the junction and down the other side? Had to do that a few times when I drove on the continent and got off a junction early!
//What is odd to me is why the driver didn't just go over the top of the junction and down the other side? //

there is no "other side" (on ramp) at that location, Long Acres, at the north end of the M6 Toll. it's easy enough to get back on track by following the A460 down to M6 J11, but the driver may not have realised that.
it's not the first time it's happened at that location either - here's another example....

I don't use the toll road mushroom, so didn't know that...thanks.
what seems to have happened in both the cases shown is that the drivers missed a No Entry sign at the top of the exit road and sorted it out reasonably sensibly when they got to the bottom. Is the sign perhaps poorly displayed?
jno, the video shows the lorry driver deliberately making a U-turn at the top of the slip road and knowingly driving back down it the wrong way. A moron that deserved jail.
oh, is that's what happening, Ellipsis? I can't really make out the start, but did he exit on the slip road, then change his mind and go back down? That is pretty stupid.
Yes, that's what he did. You see it right at the start of the video.

Staffordshire Police have released CCTV footage of a lorry driver making a dangerous manoeuvre on the M6 Toll.

The footage shows the driver performing a U-turn on a slip road on 21 January.

Police said the driver received a six-month jail sentence and was disqualified from driving for 15 months.
no sympathy for him, then.
