her murderer got life and must serve 17 years before being considered for parole, which means he could be out when he is middle aged..
I still can't understand why he can't be named..

Such a pretty girl who’d have had a life in front of her,a lethal injection should be given to him and all others who commit such heinous crimes, they’re not worthy of oxygen

no, just wondering that's all.
Thank you for BA Emmie
Question Author
such a young girl with her whole life ahead of her..
Only problem for me is that 17yrs is not a "life" sentence.
Question Author
no it's not, he will be eligible for parole when he's 45
He will be eligible to be 'considered' for parole.

An awful murder, Grace's poor family.

The anonymity may well be in order to protect others known to him, I am not an expert on law far less NZ law.
Other countries are entitled to different laws than ours. Maybe they feel there needs to be a suitable time to avoid issues with new evidence reversing the verdict, or maybe to avoid vigilante plans while the issue is raw. You'd have to enquire from (?) the NZ government.
I don't know why he can't be named again. His photo, name, age etc.,were all in the news just after he killed Grace.
Here you go, if you really need to know why he's not being named and, at the same time, his name!

I've seen his name somewhere. Think it was on TV.
Naming such a person very very often leads to repercusions and revenge attacks on the family and friends of the murderer !!!!
Some people are SO STUPID that they think that it will 'punish' the murderer in some way !!!
So, unfortunately, 'Revenge' attacks on a murderers family are common !!
^^^ then get rid of him and his like, they’d be yesterday chip paper then !
Refrain from using capitals for emphasis.

I feel no better for knowing his name whatsoever.
The problem with not being able to name him is that, whenever referring to the case now, it's Grace Millane that's named rather than her murderer.

Grace was British. If she'd been murdered in Britain then it would be no problem to report the name of her convicted murderer. So, personally, I don't have a problem with the Standard reporting his name to British readers. Technically, they've done it right in not allowing New Zealand readers to read his name (even though Kiwis could easily circumvent this technology if they chose to).
Yes Eddie,behave yourself.:-)
Topical, a capital crime in some places.
