I don't know who any of these people are, not something I watch or read but we seem to now have a situation where real life doesn't exist for many, all they care about is putting their lives 'out there'. It can't be a co-incidence that the explosion of mental health issues occured around the same time as the explosion of social media. If you read things like Mumsnet...

I used to not understand it APG, until I was in a similar situation myself. Now I get it.
My worry is young people seeing this as their option to maybe their problems. For the life of me I can't see that anyone who as real anxiety/ depression, or mental health problems can perform in front of a camera like she has. Is it a case of, she had to face up to the real world? nevertheless R.I.P
I'm sorry to hear that Barmaid, I always say 'no that would be it, no second chances' but no one really knows until it happens do they.
Tecake I know many people who seem to be the life and soul of the party in public but who are full of self doubt and crippling anxiety in private.
I agree APG. As an anxiety/depression sufferer,I can honestly say that I present as confident, outgoing and happy to the outside world. It's very common.
^^^same here^^^ Coming home, dissecting everything you've said, wondering if you've made a fool of yourself, what you didn't say what you should have said....yet everyone thinks you're the life and soul. Very hard to explain to someone who's has never experienced it.
It seems that the digital / tv world as given us a lot, but taken a lot more away.
It seemed she did have close friends, but once you’ve got that thought in your head nothing will stop it. She could have told friends how she was feeling, they could have come round and hugged her and listened to her and then she’d still take her own life. It’s horribly sad.
Stardom can send some people off the rails, and as zebo said social media as played a big part in such. The realisation that you cannot do just as you like because of stardom status hits home hard for some.
> Sadly there has always been people who are horrible to others but social media gives them a much more powerful weapon.

Yep. In the past in was possible to send hate mail in the post. What you didn't get was amplification of that hate, e.g. "Why don't you just kill yourself you ****ing useless ****?" with 1000+ likes, retweets etc. Vulnerable people aren't able to take that kind of abuse.

> no true support network

She was denied access to the one that may have given her the most support, her boyfriend.

Her management firm have had a good go at the CPS for pursuing this "trophy case". It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
//Sadly there has always been people who are horrible to others but social media gives them a much more powerful weapon.// Couldn't agree more zebo, happens on here daily.
