I think the point was being made that Labour used to have the majority of Scottish Westminster seats and this collection meant a lot toward reaching an overall win at Westminster - even with a deficit in England once the Scottish wins were added it amounted to a win overall. But yes, as you are probably meaninging, once Scotland becomes independent (before the next Westminster election ?) Labour will definitely have to win in England to win in Westminster, the Scottish seats will be gone from the equation.

Doesn't seem to matter which part of the UK they are in, they still spout nonsense.

IMO they haven't been held in high regard, or even just regard, in Scotland for a long time.

Any UK political party needs to win in the UK.
The network successfully destroyed Labour in England, it had lost Scotland long ago. These cowed non-entities are 'platform talking'.
Boris will 'give' the Scots a Referendum and they will vote for the status quomfort.
