My Hitachi smart TV, 48HBT62U K, is 4.5 years old and YouTube will not open, the screen icon opens, but nothing there, I've done a factory reset, reloaded the YouTube app, but it won't work, I read somewhere, that YouTube have stopped support on hitachi TVs, is this correct?

Anyone got any ideas? Tar

The problem of apps ceasing to work on smart TVs after only a few years isn't new. This is from 2015: https://conversation.which.co.uk/technology/smart-tv-samsung-youtube-app/ This might help though:

Surprised specific TVs need specific support. Doesn't YouTube simply send the same data stream regardless of the receiving device ?

Factory reset , cache data cleared, software upgrade non Avaliable. Internet connection fine, perinstaled YouTube app so unable to delete and reinstall, can't for the life of me figure out, why all I get is the loaded screen and nothing else.
Even if pre-installed the app itself should be upgradable, I would have thought. You can't connect to Google Play or the Apple equivalent then ?

I've gone through google play and I get the same thing when YouTube loads a frozen screen. Ahhhhhhh
Not tec minded so this may not have anything to do with your problem. I have a desktop, and when I used youtube yesterday it stated that soon it would not be supporting this site, will need to change my browser ?

Answer from Argos tech support, Hitachi have withdrawn YouTube from older versions of their TVs.

4 year old TVs, OLD! They don't tell you this when you buy it! Well I won't be going out and buying a new TV.

Thanks for all replys.
You can still access Youtube videos on your TV by purchasing a Now TV stick and plugging it into an HDMI port on your telly. (A Now TV stick turns any telly into a 'smart' one. You can buy 'passes' to access pay-TV channels with it but you don't have to do so if you only want access to apps for Youtube, etc):

(Other similar products, such as the Amazon Fire TV stick, can also give you acces to Youtube).
