Very sad tonight. The acting was superb. Duffy looked the part wonderfully.
I must admit I shed a tear or too!

i blubbed too x
It was very well done, I was alright until I saw Robyn crying. That is what set me off.
I'm afraid I disagree. Derek Thompson, who plays Charlie Fairhead, must be one of the most limited actors I've ever seen on TV. He has no range whatsoever, and he only has one expression: mildly constipated. He was predictably wooden last night, and when I see him I always think of Dorothy Parker's description of Katherine Hepburn - 'she runs the gamut of emotions from A to B'.

Not only that, but a while back when details of the salaries of BBC employees was leaked, it emerged that he is one of their highest-paid actors, on a whopping £400,000 a year.
brainiac, i couldn't agree more, a wooden actor who stayed in the part for so long it's like he has become static. I didn't watch the episode by the way. But did see the trailer
// one of the most limited actors //

there are a few of those about, some big names too. the 2 Seans, for instance (Bean and Connery), whose characterisations are limited to "man from Sheffield" and "man frae Edinburgh", respectively.
A moving episode indeed.
Agree this was a very moving episode. Charlie was just Charlie and wouldn't have expected him to change the habits of 30 years.
A great episode.
I do wish they would not drag the storylines out for so long, and drift into silliness occasionally.
Why should they drift into silliness?
Seeing Charlie acting, they may as well put a chair on the scene
I very often think Casualty is too ridiculous, staff stand around gossiping, playing the fool or going on endlessly about their love lives. I was sure I would sneer at this episode but when Charlie said "it's ok my darling, you can go now, I'll be alright" I was a complete mess.
