The story of school crossing lollipop man, Jim, who has been in the job for ten years and for all that time has been high-fiving the children as they cross the road. Just one complaint about his ‘behaviour’ resulted in a message from the school to parents requesting they ask their children not to high-five Jim. Fortunately Jim’s employer has supported him so the happy high-fiving continues.

I'm at a loss to understand why Jim's 'behaviour' would have offended anyone, and albeit that all is well in this situation, the fact remains that it now appears de rigueur for any complaint, however senseless or petty, to be acted upon in favour of the complainant. The question is why?

Common sense did prevail in the end but it should never have happened in the first place after only one complaint. I shake my head in despair at this sort of thing which really does seem to happen more and frequently. What a lot of big babies we're becoming.

no idea, some people just don't have a life and need to complain about nothing at all.
Good that he has supports and can keep on working and keeping the children safe, after all that is what he is there for.
This happened where we live, also a Jim and now deceased, much loved by parents and children alike ( they saved to have a bench put where he stood) Gateshead council got involved and whoosh!!! But happily they were overruled by a mass demo of angry parents ,
I'm at a loss too but I'll guess at an adherent of the religion of peace saw it as influence of the great Satan who, as we all know, is responsible for all ills in the world, if you discount themselves anyway.
I'm gobsmacked - no other word describes it !!
Could easily have been a motorist who complained, believing that the 'high fiving' delayed the children and kept him waiting longer than he thought necessary.

Nothing to do with a person's religion.
Read similar stories before.

Naomi, you want to be careful about calling something "the new black" Your employer may feel the need to let you go.
OI!
Common sense has prevailed, glad to see that at least.

Gimme five Jim.

Could it be that, if he were hi-fiving kids he wasn't deemed to be paying as much attention to traffic as he should?
Some people are desperate to be offended.
