i'm no expert but i think your nails continue to grow whether you bite them or not ... i doubt if saliva will stop her thumb nail growing ...
Its estimated at 1/10th of an inch per month on average.

Thankyou
tenth of an inch a month? i have to cut mine every fortnight
And you cut 1/20th of an inch off ?
I sucked my finger for years and there has been no problem with the nail growing. My finger is slightly chisel shaped though. My nails grow quite quickly. Your friend may have problems with her nails being a little brittle after she stops biting them, as mine were. Rubbing a good hand and nail cream into the nails, particularly round the bottom helps.
Your nails are where ?!?

How do you mean old-geezer
You might bite your nails as a habit when you're nervous or bored. thumb-sucking; nose-picking; hair twisting; tooth grinding. Of course, you'll need to stay on top of your trimming routine because your nails are continually growing.
