Without getting too complicated just wondering what is the difference between 25g and 22ml.
I know they shouldn't be comparable as one is for liquid and other for other stuff.
Only just noticed that little pots of glitter(I use for crafting) come in either grams or ml.
I am a little confused.

Grams are a measure of weight, millilitres of volume.

One is telling you how much something weighs, the other is telling you how much space something takes up.
tony I think that depends what it is. 22g of candyfloss would be a lot more than 22ml.
ml is a liquid measurement grams is a weight one. Dos some of your pots come in liquid form?
no but glitter is very fine and can be poured like a liquid.
Are the pots of glitter in the 25g pots dry and the glitter in the 22ml pots wet ?

I understand the difference between them as units of measurement that is why I am confused as they are all powder type product. Nothing liquid about them
As said above, it depends on the density of the substance to get the right conversion rate.

Examples here.

There is no requirement for using (milli)litres to measure only liquids:

I saw the conversion method on line but really not putting my brain through that. It is not really important, it was just an observation and made me wonder.
Maybe some are different in density as you say but still a little puzzled as they all look the same.
MrsLB I don't understand then, must be mislabelling is all I can think.
Down to the manufacturer's choice I imagine on such a product.
Question Author
Thanks all. It is not important.
Just having a why(?) moment.
Do that quite often.
I have an inquisitive mind, sometimes.
^^not mis-labelling at all. It may be confusing but some manufacturers give you the volume and others give you the weight....I buy dried mealworms as wild birdfood....in bags it's usually the weight given, but in tubs it's often the volume.
22 ml of water = 22 grams

Many liquids are roughly the same density as water so you can often approximate grams for ml. But not always.
Nothing wrong with being inquisitive, I am the same.
ans 1 gets it right
but Jim is a physicist

one is a volume (ml) like pints
and the other is a weight ( g ) like tons
actually it is a mass but what the hell this is AB

they are only identical if you are using water or any other liquid with a density / SG of one.

so 100ml of pure alcohol will NOT weigh 100g (around 90 I think)
and 100 ml of mercury ( stuff you find in thermometers) will weight around 1 1/2 kg - density 13.6

You are confused because of imperial measure - where the two are hopelessly confused ounce - weight
fluid oz - vol AND the imperial one is a different vol to the US fl oz

no wonder we use metric
