Reds in Glasgow, pure nuts?

?E?T?N? The first letter is one of J,K,L,M or N and the middle five letters also spell a word, such as ETTIN or EATEN.

Already spent many hours on this one clue and have an answer of sorts but cannot see how the 'reds in Glasgow' fits. Any help please?

possibly red /redd is a scottish word for "tidy up / make neat" ??
So the answer would be 'neatens'?
Just wondering where, 'pure nuts?' fits in

Brilliant! Thanks very much, Roslyn! Neatens was the answer I had in mind, from 'Neat' (pure) and Ens (as possibly in 'N' for nuts, but Bradfords confirms it. Must get a copy of Bradfords - would have saved so much time! Thanks again.

Elliemay - I am presuming 'N' can be an abbreviation for nuts, thus 'ens' for the plural.
i think 'ens' and 'nuts' are synonyms for printers spaces
