I have annual world wide travel insurance which expires in September 2020.I have booked a holiday Fly-drive starting in October. My insurer will not renew my current policy until three months before expiry (ie in June 2020).

I want to take out insurance NOW to cover for any eventuality that may impact on my October booking.

Anyone know what is simplest cost effective solution to this quandary?

Thank you.

You could try cancelling your present cover and taking out new cover, but I suppose that might work out to be a bit expensive.
This issue has come before the financial ombudsman in relation to a claim refused by an insurance company.

In this case, the insurance company refused to pay out because the holiday was due to be taken after the expiry date of the annual insurance.

The ombudsman held that the insurance company was liable for the claim, otherwise as in your position you would need to take out an additional annual insurance policy while the current policy was valid.

Therefore you only need to ensure you have another annual policy in place from the date of expiry of the current policy.
Go to another company - the Post Office have some good rates.
