If I have to have a new crown under the NHS band 3 which I believe is something like £239 is that the total price I will pay or will anything else be added on to that amount?

That should be the full amount you pay and if any other work is needed at the same time that should be covered too. Any other work needed in the next couple of months should also be covered and the crown itself will be covered for 12 months afterwards. That is what my son was told when he needed a crown.
