Hi all. I'm afraid that Answerbank has lost all it's appeal for me. It is swamped with adverts which jump up at every opportunity and getting worse. Even as I type this I can see ads for Tesco, Samsung, Pretty Green and Korniche aluminium roof lantern. Is there a way to be ad-free.

// Gromit, do advertisers know how many are using adblockers, or not? //

They know how many adverts are clicked, so they can see if a site is losing its appeal for them.
Advertisers track what you click on when you are not on AB and deliver to you Adverts that you are more likely to click.
If you are a friend of AB, you should click on all the adverts occasionally to boost their data score.
Ah, thanks x I have never clicked on an advert anyway... x
This site is even putting adverts in between paragraphs of OP's.
Don't kill the goose AB, or you'll find people voting with their feet and that will include myself.
Btw, I put a question in editors blog about the difficulty in using this site, it's only happened since more adverts have appeared.
I would never click on an ad within the site (nor any other site). If I actually saw something that interested me I'd open a new tab.
There should not be any pop-up adverts on The AnswerBank. Please report any offending advertisements to us directly. You can contact us via email using the address [email protected].
Pasta... 'please accept cookies' EVERY TIME I move from page to page, is doing my head in.

That's what stopped me using my iPhone for AB, I may have a snoop when away from a desktop now and again... but don't contribute, its too irritable to bother.
In my humble opinion - i don't think the advertisers expect everybody to click on the ads .

Its more about seeing the brand name of a product on the screen .
Further on down the line you may be thinking about buying a product and will remember that you saw an advert for that product from that particular company
Maybe all ads should show in a "condensed" version. Just the advertisers name...none of the junk.
On my tablet at this moment, there's just 4 ads. At the very top/bottom, one in the middle, and another below the latest posts at the bottom. That last one is a narrow, vertical ad. The other 3 horizontal and narrow. They are not intrusive.
On my much smaller phone screen, there are 7, proportionately larger ads...plus some clickable random stories...aarrgghhh!
Hi all,
The ads showing up between paragraphs in long OPs is a new thing that started to happen automatically, so when we saw these we thought we'd see how they went. As they can be quite obtrusive (and I'm not a fan either), we hear you and as such I've turned these off.

Regarding popup ads, we don't use those and you shouldn't be seeing any. If you see popup adverts or ads that take you off the website and onto a different page, please email us/use the contact form and report them, giving as much detail as possible.

If the cookie popup is appearing for you on every single page, this shouldn't be happening either. It may be that there is something on your browser that is wiping your cookies and making the browser forget that you already accepted cookies. An ad blocker may do this, but other browser extensions may also be culprits. Try turning off any extensions or using your browser in private or incognito mode to see if that changes anything. And please don't use ad blockers - that's where we get our revenue from and if everyone used them, there would be no AnswerBank at all. Depending on the advertiser, they may pay per ad click or per ad views (also called impressions). So even if you never click on an ad, you're still helping The AnswerBank by them being on your screen.

If you have any other problems with ads, let me know exactly which one, in what position and on what page, is causing you a problem, what the problem is, and what kind of device you're viewing it on.
I am on an iPad and using safari I have pop up ads coming up all the time on the bottom of my screen this is so annoying it puts me off AB. Close it another pops up why is this happening never did before.
