What a very nasty situation for you. She sounds a very sad and unhappy lady and is probably jealous of you - your youth and achievements. Not much consolation I know. Difficult to rise above something like this - it must be a constant inexplicable hurt.

As I said before TD she dislike me since we married as I am not what she wanted for him.

She's a vituperative old witch. You cant change her. You can only change your reaction to her.

Why not make a game out of it? Every time she says something horrid you get points. Once you have 100 points you go and buy yourself something wonderful and just for you.

Alternatively, just drink more gin.

just thank your lucky stars you don't live near her as you can always remove yourself from the situation.

she will never change now as she is too old

and also do think no matter who her sons would have married - she wouldn't have liked them either. These women have "stolen" her sons and she is one very angry and bitter woman. That's it until she croaks it.

I know I've said this before and a few other people have similar views too, don't give her the reaction she desires.

Sweetly reply to such barbed comments with 'Thanks for letting us know' (or similar) and leave her to it.

What a Shame she is like that, at least you know your husband married the right woman.

It is not easy to ignore these hurtful remarks, but I would try to.

She is obviously very sad, but that is no excuse.
