"I regard 'privacy' as a ridiculous concept." - seriously!

going on experience the DWP can request you supply them with a copy of your bank statements as proof of your savings. I have no idea about creditors to be honest.
erm I think we need a proper question here

Q: whilsty little babies have to sleep in lamp shades and lavatory bowls as they wait for care in A+E is it right that other men from the ministry, prey spy and look into matters which DOESN'T concern them ! ? Proper sherlock holmes paafters I call them !!

wont get much sense from anyone

but of course it does allow me to muse about the old superceded Banking Act of 1926 and some bad news.
yes it laid a duty on mgr to tell the authorities of any transaction or series with an interest value of £5. ( effectively in todays money £10,000)
so that lays to rest privacy of old - there wasnt any ! It was always qualified and it is so now

confidentiality - some old boy was sued by his bank in court.
He tried pleading that this was gross breach of confidentiality of existence (that he was a customer - but if he were overdrawn the Bank would be banking with him hur hur hur) -and of amount - the amount owed all without his permission

the court not surprising said - we are going to try the case and so by definition there is no breach ...

what else?
what about others?
well try an equifax or the other one, credit check for £2

remarkable amount of info - they know what my credit card expenditure was for example. and that is because way back when when I applied for one I agreed in the small print to the release

as you well find you did - for whatever so called breach you are complaining of

dont bother to write you didnt understand a word of this
no one does

o god I havent even done the bit about when the police can pry .....
breakfast time
// to be honest.//
ha ! good one - that wasnt a Freudian slip by any chance

1985 - I said I couldnt get a mortgage for the full amount ( er £60 000 that was then) so I would have to reduce my bid

and the ESTATE AGENT for the seller - said oh never mind you have £10k in an alliance saving account so you can still buy

so when I broached this with the mgr where I had recently deposited said ten grand, she took the view of: "why are you discussing other peoples conversations - - - with me now considering I wasnt there !"

1985
If you had up in court for any offence - motoring or whatever - you will be required to give an accurate statement of your finances. By law.
The local authority don't have automatic access to your bank records. However they have the right to demand to see your bank statements if they're providing you with any means-tested benefit.

Further, if they suspect that you're hiding something from them (such as not telling them about an undeclared bank account) they can seek a court order forcing the bank to reveal details of all accounts that you hold with them.

In my Utopia everyone's bank records, together with all their medical records, etc would be in the public domain (on a 'read only' basis of course) anyway. I regard 'privacy' as a ridiculous concept.
"I regard 'privacy' as a ridiculous concept." - seriously!
What is the unpaid bill for?
// they have the right to demand to see your bank statements//

yeah all this is different to - can they get hold of my very own bank statements without my knowledge?

and even that depends on who and why - hence "can I have a proper question please" - under money laundering regs (MLR) the bank has to volunteer (see above re the Banking act 1926) ( s300 of the new act I think) AND not tell you ( s 303 - "tipping off")
Most of the time the man at the ministry just spikes your application if you decline to supply the info
( and then puts you out of time and wont allow you to reapply)

Tax - and I dont think this is - the tax authorities ONLY act on anonymous letters with tip offs on the grounds that if you have signed something then it is common knowledge

Privacy is dead
is one of Mark Zuckerbergs sayings and he lived to regret it
sorry - volunteer a suspicion - and suspicion is defined as "anything not fanciful".

The taxman knew Doddy had a Jersey acct - and so they said - "Doddy you dont have an acct there so you can sign a release to all the banks in Jersey saying release any details - because there is nothing there ! so it is no skin off your nose."
and even Doddy's lawyer later sacked said - well if there are no accounts then Doddy you can sign ....

there were of course that D had concealed from everyone - oh naughty D !

but that demonstrates the lengths they will go to Get Your Consent
// What is the unpaid bill for?//
is irrelevant
this appears to be a query on who can get hold of what if the owner says no
Jesus Peter...stay on point!
With respect PP, the reason for the bill IS relevant. The DWP can request information from a bank if fraud is suspected. If there's no suspicion, they cannot.

Also, the DWP don't send out bills, do they?
They may say someone has been overpaid a benefit and it has to be repaid but that is a decision and not a bill.

The question is not clear and I was attempting to gain additional information.
// Jesus Peter...stay on point!//
er - - what is his point?

he talked about the law years ago - the law years ago wasn't strict about anything he said it was....

and yes I had noticed as someone else has - that DWP dont send out bills - never had one. The council levy council tax and it also is not really a bill - they are allowed to tell a court you are in arrears and the court will very obligingly just issue a warrant

and as usual ummm - if my prose tires you - just pass on and read headier stuff - AOG or 3T or someone, I am certain we will both be better for it
Stop waffling and keep to the point. Why is that so hard to understand? Are you being a Rebel Without A Clue?

You bring up irrelevant things and waffle on like this is your personal blog. People want advice, advise them in as few as words you can manage. Preferably 1 short paragraph!!

Oh..and spell your words correctly or how is anyone suppose to take you seriously?

Save 'wat dat den' for CB..not serious topics.

You won't listen though....sadly.
Best answer to Ummm
definitely the best advice of all to Dinger (who I hope has paid his bills)
