It’s quite true that the Health and Safety at Work Act was eventually passed by a Labour government. But….Conservative Secretary of State for Employment William Whitelaw introduced the new Bill on 28 January 1974 but Labour were returned to power in the February 1974 United Kingdom general election and the Bill again lost.

The Employment Protection Act was introduced in 1996 when there had been a Conservative government for the previous seventeen years.
But other than that, spot on !!

Of course, as referred to by others, you will know that MEPs cannot propose or modify legislation but only endorse that put before them by the European Commission.

So whilst we’re on the subject of made up stuff, let’s have a look at this:

Let’s leave aside the fact that the Schengen Agreement pre-dated the Maastricht Treaty by some seven years. Have you any idea the problems that have been caused by the two EU “achievements” that you mention?
Schengen: Have you examined the problems that nations in the Schengen Area have encountered. Have you noticed that on occasions in the past few years so problematic was it that borderless travel had to be abandoned for a time in a few countries?
The euro: Have you taken note of the huge damage that the single currency has wreaked across much of the eurozone? Did you know that youth unemployment reached >50% in Greece and Spain and that Italy is on the brink of a financial meltdown, all caused by those countries using a currency over which they have no control. Even many of its supporters now accept (which was adequately forecast before its introduction) that to force a currency on a bloc before political and fiscal integration had been achieved was a serious error.
The euro and the Schengen Agreement are lauded by the Euromaniacs as their two proudest achievements. In fact between them their introduction has probably caused more damage than just about any political decision since WW2. So please, before you accuse others of being pathetic and making things up, do a little research and indulge in a little thought. (Possibly too much to ask).

judge: 18:01, good patient effort but there are none so blind as those that will not see. Itchy and scratchy have what is known in IT as a ROM, Read Only Memory, nothing in their heads is changeable, it has been programmed in advance, probably by lefty teachers. No I do not believe diddly is/was a teacher, no one so devoid of reason could possibly have been allowed into education.
Diddly, Bobbi and I CEASE to be in denial? Are you sure that’s what you mean? Thing is diddly, you try to impress by banging on about all these highly educated people you’re surrounded by, but you fail to understand that education does not necessarily equate to common sense. I know lots of very highly educated people who are nonetheless absolute nincompoops - and from what you’ve said I’d take an educated guess and say that you do too - although it takes an education to spot it. ;o)
