There is the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) that provides independent economic forecasts and analysis of the public finances so perhaps they could do the same for manifestos.

It's the norm for parties to promise a lot and deliver little, but Labour actually seem to have a real suicide wish in terms of their 'spending plans' which even the most casual observer can recognise as utter fantasy.

It has been suggested that the current leadership are more focused on re-aligning the party at the far left, and that is their ambition, rather than government, and I am increasingly thinking that such an argument is gaining traction as the election gets nearer.
