Both shows had massive improvements this Sunday, with HDM in particular going from strength to strength.

Tough night for Harry Melling though. Going from being pinned by a polar bear's paw to being incinerated by a Martian tripod.

Anyone else enjoying these shows?

i was going to watch WoftheW today, still might, I don't fully understand His Dark Materials, but it's well done so far.

Am enjoying WOTW, but fell asleep last night and missed a big chunk of it !! Will have to watch on iplayer, unless it's repeated later on in the week.

Agree with you entirely, Mozz. I wasn't that impressed early doors with HDM but the last couple of episodes have won me over. WOTW is ok but the constant toing and froing is beginning to irk somewhat.

I just can't cope with fantasy or science fiction, so two hours on a Sunday are now reading hours with dips into AB. And to me Eleanor Tomlinson still looks like a Demelza in War of the Worlds!

HDM, as has been said, is going from strength to strength. Really enjoying how the plot is building up. Still to watch the first two episodes of WOTW but may have a wee binge later on today.

The introductions of Iorek the bear and Lee Scoresby the aeronaut has sped up the narrative hugely. And starting Lin-Manuel Miranda's appearance with a song made this Hamilton fan smile like a Cheshire Cat.

His Dark Materials is addictive and last night's episode was particularly good for all the reasons you gave - loving it.


War Of The Worlds, am not thrilled with the time shifts but that may be more my problem, it continues to entertain.

I only tried WOTW because I love Jeff Wayne’s musical interpretation.

When the first words spoken were “No one would have believed in the last years…” I knew I wouldn’t like it, because they weren’t spoken by Richard Burton.

Gave up after episode 1. Like NellieMay and Vagus, not my cup of tea.

I must download Dark Materials and try again. I tried episode 1 and couldn't follow it, I thought I'd missed a couple, it seemed to assume a lot.
