If 18d is Rapparees then Unpeeled appears to be the only answer but it doesn't make any sense

I agree it's illogical , we need a full clear letter pattern.
I agree that unpeeled fits the letter pattern, but I don't think it fits the clue. If it is unpeeled then the skin hasn't been removed.Sometimes the clues form this paper leave me baffled.Just an opinion.

Very confusing but, in view of the 2nd definition, I would go with Lynne's answer of Unpeeled.
