So ingrained is the anti semitism in Labour that this sort of thing is the norm, here's another:

It really grates on my nerves when the likes of the billionaire businessman and President of the United States, Trump, and the incredibly erudite and intelligent Johnson are referred to as idiots on this site. Its like the last US election, opposition blow any chance of victory by backing a wholly unsuitable candidate/leader, resulting in an imbecile being elected POTUS/PM.

I don't think Agent Cob will win Mozz.
/// Agent Cob ///

You just can't stop yourself can you.
If Labour are fielding candidates who have not studied Shakespeare, that's one thing, but to not know that the term 'Shylock' is offensive, is to be ignorant to an unacceptable level.

Shakespeare wrote about current times, and in Elizabethan England, Jews were mistrusted and disliked, so making one a baddie in one of his plays is to be expected - write for your audience.

Now, we have rather more tolerant views, and bandying about such insults, especially in view of Labour's record on anti-Semitism, is simply not acceptable.
//...resulting in an imbecile being elected POTUS/PM.//

Perhaps you could help us. Imbecile definition:

Informal. a dunce; blockhead; dolt:

Psychology. (no longer in technical use; now considered offensive) a person of the second order in a former and discarded classification of mental retardation, above the level of idiocy, having a mental age of seven or eight years and an intelligence quotient of 25 to 50.

So how do either of those definitions square with Messrs Trump an Johnson? Both well educated; both highly successful in their chosen fields.

People whose policies and views you may not agree with - yes. But imbeciles? Nah.

They most definitely are not idiots.

Ironically, of course, those on this site who call them idiots are, in fact, idiots themselves - they wouldn't last five minutes in the roles of the men they think are idiots.

standard lefty approach DD, anyone with a non prescribed view must be an idiot. The irony is that those with that view are, by definition radio rental!
Canary 11.34 PMSL Again , Spot on !. WAP.
I'll second that from Canary and Gulliver.
//standard lefty approach DD, anyone with a non prescribed view must be an idiot.//

Trump can barely bumble his way through a speech without sounding like a five year old reading their "What I did on my holidays" essay out in front of class. (If this is a front, hiding a political genius, he deserves an Oscar) and Boris has long portrayed himself as a bumbling oaf. Its hardly my fault if this character is the one he continues to be associated with into his tenure as PM.

//The irony is that those with that view are, by definition radio rental!//

The fact that you lambast me for doing that, yet return the compliment for those who don't support your political ideology is the very definition of irony.
I love the way Diddlydo has aligned itself with gulliver. The latter has shown itself time and time again to be SEN, and the other one has now also shown itself also to be ‘special’.
//not know that the term 'Shylock' is offensive, is to be ignorant to an unacceptable level. //

I wasn't aware that the term is offensive. The dictionary definition is //A ruthless moneylender; a loan shark.// and that's exactly my interpretation of it. Yes, it emanates from Shakespeare but not once have I ever considered ruthless moneylenders and loan sharks to be necessarily Jewish. I would suggest that anyone who does has a serious problem.

Tell me this then:

Mr Trump is a highly successful businessman. He's made a lot of money but in doing so has built businesses that have provided work and income for many others. You can't do that without considerable skill and acumen. If you could , everyone would do it.

Mr Johnson has had highly successful career in journalism and was editor of The Spectator. He served two terms as Mayor of London and many people view his tenure as a successful one. Once again, not the sort of career that many people could make successful.

By any measure both these men are intelligent, well educated, and successful in just about anything they turn their hands to. So what has turned them into imbeciles? You may not like Mr Trump's style of delivery; you may believe Mr Johnson is a bumbling oaf. But clearly to describe them both as "imbeciles" when in fact you simply disagree with their views and don't like the fact they've been elected to high office, I'm afraid says much more about you than it does about them.

.

The word “shylock,” which has been used to refer to loan sharks, is an eponym from a Jewish character in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. Jewish Americans have publicly challenged the portrayal as an insult to Jews for more than 50 years, according to a review of TIME’s archive, even as it remained a fixture of the modern lexicon. Today, “shylock” is considered an antisemitic slur and, after being called out by the Anti-Defamation League, Biden apologized for his “poor choice of words.”

yeah yeah I know this is some sort of alternative world called 'AB'

as for the brilliant billionaire one DOnald Trump - hasnt His Intelligence just been fined 2.5 m bucks for breach of trust ?

//...hasnt His Intelligence just been fined 2.5 m bucks for breach of trust ? ///

I don't know , Peter. But if so, does that make Mr Trump an imbecile?

Trump claimed he turned a ‘small’ $1 million loan from his father into an empire. The New York Times says it was more like $60.7 million

o god the massacre of truth goes on

NJ;You can't do that without considerable skill and acumen. If you could , everyone would do it.

er I would say that you cant do that without $60m loan from your dad, but you know I might be out on the usual limb here
//...er I would say that you cant do that without $60m loan from your dad,//

Possibly very true. But if most people borrowed $60m dollars from their dad, by the end of the year they'd have blown it. Mr Trump didn't and that's where the acumen comes in.
I know this is from the Guardian, and especially given my comments on biased reporting on another thread, hold up my hands that this isn't the most unbiased of sources, but it makes an interesting read about some of Donnie's business "genius".
