I'd never heard of such a thing, so I looked it up and yes, Amazon, and I imagine other places, have them: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=rotating+car+seats&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
Unable to recommend anything but if you go on Amazon and search "swivel cushion for car" you get some options/ideas. Good luck with it, I'm sure others will be interested in hearing about anything you try.
before you buy anything, try sitting on a thin plastic carrier bag. Often its enough and more comfortable than adding to the seat. If it doesn't work you haven't lost anything
I forgot to say. you need to smooth out the carrierbag and lay it flat
...and then remember to take it off your bum before you go shopping. :-)

Many thanks for replies. I was hoping someone may have first hand experience.

I've read some reviews on Amazon that aren't good.

I hadnt thought about the plastic bag idea. I'll give that a try next time. It's for my husband who is getting quite frail and doesnt bend like he used to do.

Thanks again.
You're right about wanting advice from someone who has used one. I really can't see them working very efficiently since when you sit on them they are going to "sink" somewhat into the seat and limit their rotation. They'd probably be great if your car-seat was made of wood:)
Thisoldbird, I am a retired Occupational Therapist and have suggested the carrierbag trick to many people including my late Mum and I used it myself when I went hip deep in a mud hole walking the dogs and damaged my already iffy knee. One of these might help as well? I have heard good things about them but not tried it as it wasn't around when I needed it Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Thanks again...Wolfgang we have one of those handles..its very useful for pushing down, get up from the sitting position once the feet are on the ground. Cheers everyone
hi before i had my hip replacement i tried several, all useless. carrier bag worked. now when i change my car i make sure i get leather seats - much more slippy!
We use carrier bags usually, but we also have someone with a soft rotating car seat, which she likes. I can't seem to get a link for Amazon on a mobile, but it is Myamouth.
Mayouth...
If the problem is becoming serious, and of course if your budget runs to it, you might want to consider replacing the entire car seat with a suitably adapted model. This information is from a registered charity which specialises in disability assistance:

Just google .. 'rotating transfer cushion' ..and you will get plenty of ideas.
Should you want to go all the way and have a rotating seat fitted, it is no big issue. Many years ago I worked with a vehicle conversion company and we did rotating seat bases for any car a customer might want adapted.
Thanks mamya x was doing paperwork... sorry for delay x
