I don't think there is an answer to that. For me there is no after pain but my OH will feel sore for a few hours. I very rarely get cramp but he gets it weekly.

How often is it happening to you?
Mine only lasts for seconds really, it just comes and then goes. Is yours lasting longer ?

HereIam, its my husband who is largely wheelchair bound and has had calf cramp 3 nights running now but also complains it still hurts in the morning. He has aphasia as well some communication is a little difficult at times. We were up at 5 with the cramp and he's just said the soreness has gone at last. Just wondered if that was common. Thinking about a DVT but from what I read he dosn't have any other symptoms.
Not an expert genie, but as he's obviously not a well man, his cramp seems vastly different to mine. We have a resident medic Sqad who hopefully will be along soon and read your thread. He, I'm sure, will be able to offer assistance. Sorry I can't help more.
I think everyone knows that the best way to ease the cramp is to stretch it out, but that's not always easy because it depends where the cramp attack is. I get cramp in my shoulders, thighs, neck, toes etc. The soreness can last a few mins or a few hours, in my case, depending on how severe the attack is. I think everyone's different aren't they? Hope it's ok now.
As already been said, the persistence of pain in the calf following cramp is variable lasting from immediate relief to a whole day to recover.
As for the possibility of a DVT, possible, but unlikely. To exclude a DVT, make sure that his leg is not swollen and the calf is not painful and hot........if it is, then call your GP.

As for the cure for cramps.........difficult but do make sure your husband is well hydrated.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Sqad I don't see any of the indicators of a DVT but have got it in mind and will watch for any possible signs.
