Tyres On A Budget

Hi folks, I've just bought a 2006 Subaru Forester 2.5XT but it needs a new set of tyres. Having lashed out quite a lot of money buying it, I've limited budget left over for the tyres it will need soon (only a couple of thousand miles left of tread before they become dangerously lacking in tread). Does anyone know who does the best deal in tyres. I'm hoping not to have to spend much more than £200.
TIA

There are plenty of places that dpo tyres at a reasonable price. But it's the old story. You get what you pay for.

Put cheap tyres into your search engine.
The place I get my tyres from do part worn tyres but the come without a guarantee.
I have bought part worn tyres on occasion - they lasted me a year at the fraction of the price and got me out of a hole - now I bought them because I trusted my garage - I wouldn't buy from a strange garage.
Have a look at tyreshopper.co.uk
and
blackcircles.com

Both of them you pay on line, but get them fitted at a local fitting centre.
This site is helpful:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyres_For/Subaru/forester-2.5xt.htm

They are suggesting £75 or so per tyre - going to £300 for four.

It is a powerful car. Winter is coming. In my personal opinion, you are risking much more than a hundred pounds or so if you put super-cheap tires on this vehicle.

Others have suggested part-worn tires.
These are banned in many countries because of high risk of tires being dangerous. Here is what the National Tyre Dealers Association says about them

An alternative might be to rent tires

Asda will charge you a monthly fee:
https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/pay-monthly

A smaller operation called Gorilla does the same
https://gorillatyres.co.uk/pay-monthly/

Alternatively, BlackCircles offers a deal so that you don't need to pay for six months:

In fact, if you search on "tyres pay per month UK" you get a number of options.

Your tyres are what keep you safe on the road. Good tyres will keep you safer than bad ones.

TyreReviews.co.uk will give you advice on which are good and bad,
Rockrose the company I was referring to is a tyre depot that will repair or replace anything from a wheel barrow to a tractor tyre.
I would budget to spend £100 a tyre.

Perhaps you can do two soon, and two more in a few months.
Asda offer some of the best prices on tyres. (You order online and then go to your choice of local fitter at a time convenient to you. Asda work in partnership with F1 Autocentres, Fast Fit and several other national companies, plus local local tyre firms, so there's a good choice of places to go to).

For example, F1 Auotocentres want around £80 per tyre for decent quality tyres (i.e. ones with a good grip factor and good fuel economy) for my car but if I order through Asda and then get the tyres fitted at the local branch of F1 Autocentres, I can pay less than £50 for tyres which are of the same quality.

We always use black circle tyres. Loads of outlets nationally.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I wasn't looking to cut corners and put my safety at risk. I shall just have to do a bit more work and sell some stuff :-)
Chris when I worked at garage occasionally someone would bring in tyres they had bought themselves often from a catalogue for fitting. They got charged for new valves and balancing, something that was FOC if we supplied tyres.
Not FOC - included in the price!
Blackcircles are the only place I've bought tyres from via the internet; their price includes fitting by a local dealer.
Ok dave yes
TonyV:
Wih Asda Tyres, fitting, balancing and valves are included in the price.
