wow. What a weird one!
I have finished (at least I have filled in all the squares. I am so unsure of the reasoning for some answers that I shouldn't be in the least surprised if someone tells me I'm wrong.let me give a few examples
19 ac Running dodgy affair within walls prison evacuating agent. it must nee "liquid paraffin" and that meets the definition. But the rest? beats me41 ac pack up position respecting request to see back
With my other laters I have "put a stop to. which again meets the definition. Explanation please?
8 d Chance participant in an anglo- French engagement. Again using other letters I can make "unintended" which is Chance but the rest

Jacobean - is right - 'Jean' (Frenchman, astride) 'a cob' (horse)
It's easier to read if you put each clue on a line of its own, rather than in a paragraph.
