"Swedish comedian Olaf Falafel has won Dave's "Funniest Joke of The Fringe" award with the niche culinary pun.

He took the title with the gag: "I keep randomly shouting out 'Broccoli' and 'Cauliflower' - I think I might have florets"."

Its funny but it 'aint new....I have heard it many times over the years

I don't understand it.
Lettuce all laugh
Have another sip of coffee bhg , and think about it
bhg someone with tourettes shouts things out x
I've been thinking about it since 6:30 when I heard it on the news; my wife is baffled as well.
mally - thank you. I saw on thing on the Daily Mail and wondered if that was the connection but didn't think it was funny at all.
Tourette's syndrome, bhg

I knew that there must be a reason I don't rush up to the Edinburgh Fringe each year.
Oh and no. It might be new as I've not heard it before, but one thing it isn't is funny. I know because none of the "jokes" there caused me to crack a smile. At best some allowed me to see where humour was supposed to be coming from; but which simply failed.
Lighten up OG
I've not heard it before.
Can you imagine the really funny old comedians; Dodd, Morcambe, Cooper etc. ever making a joke about a severe physical illness?
This one was my favourite:

"I've got an Eton-themed advent calendar, where all the doors are opened for me by my dad's contacts"

I can imagine Tim Vine doing the winning joke..
Now if he had said it, I would have giggled...The rest not so funny, witty, maybe.
If the joke was in the public Domain, it would certainly be in Googles search algorithm.
There is no record of the joke in search results before today.
It IS new and not plagiarised.

Problem for Falafel is that he should have been shouting out chick peas or shitpeas, given his name, not cauli or broccoli.
