"Equality" refers to equality of treatment and opportunity. It has nothing to do with being identical or equivalent.
But treating one group more leniently than another isn't equality.

Absolutely correct, OG. But the thread seemed to have veered off to discuss what "equality" really means. And it does not mean treating women and men as if they re the same because they are not. But it does mean not giving one group preferential or deferential treatment or denying one or the other opportunities.

Ms Swinson's idea is clearly prejudicial and, may I say it, absolutely barmy.
