Beware !

This morning I came down to find that foxes had bitten through three of my tyres, resulting in a recovery of the vehicle and a bill for £145 ! Other neighbours in my area Bexleyheath/Dartford) have also suffered. The tryre fitter recalled a customer who has had eight tyres ruined by foxes this Summer !
I've now protected my parking bay with four electronic fox deterrent gadgets and a liberal splashing around the car with Jeyes Fluid.

Why do foxes find tryres so appetising/attractive ?

Cheers. D

Good grief, derek, that is more than bad luck.

I love foxes but not sure that would continue if they did that to my car.
A Goodyear for foxes ?
Seems to be a hot spot for this, this from 2013.

They also go for wiring and cables by going under vehicles, various theories as to why.
never had that happen to me - but I've also never found a fox deterrent that works, not even the famous lion poo, so good luck with that.

Thanks for all your answers.

Yes, there does seem to a lot of this going on in my area. The tyre fitter thought it was a lot of building works impinging on the animals' natural habitat and forcing them into built-up areas. I've seen them in my back garden quite frequently.

Also, it has been suggested that there may be some animal content in the make-up of tyres which drives the fox into a mating-type frenzy !

Cheers.

... mating-type frenzy...
derek, please tell me me you do not have humps in your drive? ;)
//not even the famous lion poo//
where did you get your hands on that?
There have been foxes in my garden for over 30 years but thankfully we've never had our tyres eaten by them, nor have our neighbours.
Sorry, I don't know what to suggest
Here, pine martens climb into your engine bay & chew up the electric wires & in my case the sound proofing material on the underside of the bonnet as well. Foxes are notorious for stealing shoes, my wife has had 2 pairs of garden clogs nabbed by them.
ael anywhere online
Does the tyre fitter (or his employer) own any trained foxes (or dogs possibly, unless people have witnessed the foxes doing it) ?

[That's the cynic in me speaking]
