Hi sqad, an update on the ear situation :been to the drs and I've got to have it looked at the hospital. Its a pseudomona - which is the same type of bacterial infection you were on about with a furuncle. Maybe you ought to become a Dr! :-D Thanks for your advice over the weeks.

LOL....pseudomonas pyacyanoea is a popular but resistant to antibiotics which tends to be stubborn. If you had had Gentamycin drops from the outset instead of that bloody stupid penicillin by mouth, then it would have settled more quickly. Glad you ar now settling. Me! a doctor? no, I am not clever enough.LOL

Don't be defeatist Sqad.x
LOL..mamy...I have been a DR but was out of my depth, so I reverted back to a Mr........much happier.
I know, but you never lose it.

Gilliam McKeith bought her doctor title, I think that is a good idea and may do so myself. ☺

Thanks again sqad. I agree, it could have been handled quicker and better.

Off to hospital this morning. Will update you later sqad. ( If you're interested, that is...? ) Hopefully it will be the end of it and I'll be pain free for the first time in 6 weeks! Wish me luck. :-)
Very interested, it is nice to have genuine rapport with a sincere poster with a genuine problem, compared to some of the rubbish that is spouted on this section.

Hahaha! I know what you mean! Anyway, just been and they said I have a polyp and will have to be referred to have it removed. She cleaned it up and says I've still got to carry on with the gentamycin drops. God knows when they'll get me in. Any idea of what they'll do?
Hooby....I really do feel sorry for you.......this is not a high standard of medical practice.
Who did you see at the hospital, a junior doctor or a Consultant.
Polyps don't occur in the outer ear and if indeed it is a polyp it means that it is coming from the middle ear.........which if true, may be a bigger deal.
I am sticking with my original diagnosis until there is a more tangible diagnosis, made by a Consultant.
You case highlights the importance of having private medical insurance........if you can afford it.
I look forward to future bulletins.
Sqad, may I interrupt with a question viz Does this extreme heat affect arthritic joints?
danny......I think it does, it exacerbates the pain in the joints, not because of the heat, but more because of the increase in humidity which affects the joints.
Cold affects the joints in a negative way because of the temperature rather than the air pressure (humidity)
That's my theory anyway ;-)
Thanks Sqad, since this heat wave started I have had a pretty bad pain on a thumb and wrist, shoulder and a knee.Ready for the scrapheap methinks.
LOL ^^^^hardly young man, would there be room enough on the scrap heap for two?
Young man? lol

...love how people keep jumping in on my thread..lol. Start your own jocker! Lol. Anyway, sorry I'm late getting back to you but l keep being side tracked with work. My 'polyp' or cyst, or whatever it is, is in the outer ear canal : you can see it near the entrance inside, without using any instrument, just by looking with the eye. It's a red pimple looking thing and it's still tender but not quite so painful. Apparently it was a doctor I saw, though I can't be certain.
