Hi. In September I am making a long journey south on the M1 and need to break it up with an overnight stay somewhere near the motorway in the Northampton area. Can anyone recommend any where reasonably priced which will accept pets as I am travelling with my dog! I have googled Travelodge etc but cant find what I am looking for. Thanks! Shirley

There is a Days Inn between junctions 16 & 17. Never used it but may be worth a google.
Cannot recommend anyone Shirley have you tried google and ring and ask if they take dogs?
turning off the M1 at J15 and heading toward Northampton will find several of the budget chains represented - Holiday Inn Express at the junction itself, Hilton a little further up, and Premier Inn and Travelodge at Wootton.
Would they allow dogs though?
Slightly further down, near Welwyn, there's the Brocket Inn at Ayton Lawrence. They certainly take dogs in the bar and may do as to their rooms or cottage outside - I would give them a call. It's a lovely old place and they are very hospitable.

Thanks for your answers. I hadn't seen the Days Inn page but have just had a look and it is cheaper than some of the others especially for the dog so that could be a good choice. I can now compare with Holiday Inn Express and the others also suggested. The answers were very helpful so thanks again!

I had seen one or two which charged £20 per night for the dog which adds a lot on to a one night stay!
