Feldene Gel

Remember getting this from my doctor many years ago (different doctor too) and I thought it great at the time as there were like "chillis in the ointment". Found it helped me

However last year my cousin had a bad knee and I told her to get the Feldene but she was given Piroxicam (would that be the same thing). Doctor says it is - hoo hah

Also can I buy Feldene OTC - thanks

Feldene gel contains the active ingredient piroxicam, which is a type of medicine called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs are used to relieve pain and inflammation. Piroxicam gel is also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.

Voltarol...Ibuprofen.....Piroxicam....Feldene........basically all the same...if one doesn't work, then it is most likely that the others will be ineffective.
I am not a fan of Gels.
Why not take tablets?

I know Sqad you advocate the ibrufen tabs but they never work for me either. Perhaps it is I start them and then I'm wanting miracles - then I stop them.

Am also nervous of the Ibu as people/friends will say- "oh they're bad for your stomach" so that unnerves me. Are the Ibrufen ok from the Pound shops - like are they safe enough. thanks

The ones from the pound shops are the same ones from boots just in non branded packaging

Danny just looked at your link - if I was going to buy the Piroxicam thought I could OTC - far far far too much trouble trying to squeeze something from my doctor - would much rather buy it as I do most things.

The OTC Ibuprofen are 200mgms and providing that you take them with food, I should take 400mgms ( two tablets) three times a day if necessary.

I bought this it is like biofreeze at £10 or maybe more in a chemist. This is the same stuff only in a tub for £1.

Have just rubbed it on my arms and am getting a little ease. Like a numbness.

If they relieve your pain....then as long as necessary.....one week, one month, but if they haven't relieved the pain after a week, then see your GP.
