Andrea Camilleri, the Sicilian author behind the popular Inspector Montalbano television series, has died aged 93. R.I.P. Thank you for many hours of Sicilian pleasure!

Not read the books, but I really enjoyed the TV series. Riposate in Pace.

One of my very favourite authors.Sad to see him go. he had a long innings.I love Montalbano on TV too.I wonder when they'll publish the very last book he wrote which was locked away. I also saw recently that the actor who played Dr Pasquano,had also died.

It was thanks to the TV series that we discovered Sicily was so fascinating. On our first visit we found our almost random choice of hotel was only a few miles from many of the film locations - including Montalbano's house. But the island has many other places worth visiting.
