Have you noticed that the prize money has been HALVED!!!!!!!!

I have emailed the editor with my disgust and had a reply that they just can't afford it any more.
POOR THINGS
I wonder if next Sunday's issue will be halved too.

It's a business decision. If they have judged it correctly it'll save them a bit of money; if not they'll lose more revenue than they save in prize money. But in my experience people do crosswords they enjoy- theprize money is a mimnnor consideration to me since the chances of being picked out from tens of thousands of entries are so remote anyway- certainly not worth the cost of a stamp

Oh I always live in hope! I did win £25 runner-up some time ago.
You have to be in it to win it :-)
Well hopefully you'll stick with it and win £12.50 when your name is next picked out in 2030
The highlighted word was quite apt as well
Yes but they charge you £1.50 to enter, might start posting again
I spotted that as well. I think it's ever since they started putting a puzzle pullout in the paper instead of printing The Big Monday near the cartoons. I can't say I knew the prize money was to be reduced because I don't always remember to get the paper.
I doubt very much that they "can't afford it".
I also won £25 last summer. When I saw the envelope I got mega excited as I thought I'd won £1000. I never knew until then that there were any other prizes.
Texting the answer is a ripoff so I always use a stamp to enter any puzzle or crossword competition.
Is the Sunday magazine one still £1,000?
