Did anyone watch Coco Gough today? How does a 15 year old have the mental stamina to hold her nerve at 1 set and 3 - 5 down and come back to win the match on her opponents service game. Brilliant performance

I didn't see it but have heard mention on the radio that her training and support network have given her the mental stamina. Hope she goes from strength to strength.

Also heard that her opponent didn't take being beaten graciously.
Coco was amazing. Hard to believe she’s only 15.
I felt sorry for her opponent. The crowd cheered every point she lost. She did nothing to deserve that. I guess that’s why she seemed a bit ungracious at the end. Also, tough to lose having held matchpoints.
I watched the match. She seem to have a strong mental attitude and lots of stamina. She will have a great future in tennis if she keeps this up. Her opponent must have been on the point of tears, she rushed off the court. Having the match snatched away from you when you have 2 match points must be devastating. Lots of money lost at this stage.
I like her. Just gets on with it, and no annoying pre-service routines or grunting. Amazing to think she must still be growing
I agree with Cloverjo - I wish the crowd had been more fair. Having said that I think Cocò was superb in clawing her way back from nearly losing.
Is she the new Serena ?
Question Author
Could be but because of her age is limited as to how many matches she can play in a year
She has said she wants to win more slams than Serena. That would be good going.

I saw this and I am still talking about that match. It was fantastic. I really felt for me in the first set as at one point I thought she was gonna cry.
You go girl!!!!!
Is it mental strength or just teenage bravado? At 15 and world ranked 313 she has absolutely nothing to lose. It's almost a given that she has one heck of a future before her but i do believe she has reached the end of the road as far as this Wimbledon is concerned. Her next opponent is Simona Halep who will not underestimate the teen and will play accordingly.
She could be destined for great things, tennis-wise anyway.
She reminds me of Jennifer Capriati. I hope her career doesn’t end similarly.
