On Newsnight a couple of weeks ago, an Islamic academic said that the first suicide bomber of the current Intifada was a Christian. Has anybody any details of this?

I'm an atheist but even I know that a 'christian' could not be a suicide bomber. I think that the word is 'terrorist'.

So, thewillow, you don't have any further details then?

but there is no mention of a christian ??? I can't see why a christian would want to kill jews though ??? unless they were brainwashed like the rest of the "martyrs"

Couldn't find details on the BBC, nedflander: but a (declining) minority of Palestinians are Christians e.g George Habash of the PFLP. I know there was a PFLP suicide bomber last year but not sure of his religious affiliation, and he certainly wasn't the first of the Intifada. "Brainwashed" - aren't we being a bit hard on the long-suffering Palestinian people? At least they have the honour to accept death on their mission - unlike the Israeli helicopter gunship pilots.
Whatever he(or she) was then, they sure won't be it now, so who cares.
