Hi I am building a model railway layout measuring 6 feet by 4 feet and was wondering if anyone had advice on how to protect it from dust. I was intending to have a Perspex lid to protect it until I was given a price of £70 which I am not willing to pay. I would sooner spend that money on 500 dusters.

If the cover you'll be using can't come into contact with any part of the layout (e.g. because your signal gantries are too delicate to place something on top of them), then you'll be forced to use some type of 'lid' (although you could probably knock one up yourself for well under £70). Otherwise though, just put a couple of these over it:...

6 x 4, ideal size to cover, carefully with a sheet imo.
