After Stormzy did the glasto stage...

"The grime artist tweeted a screenshot of a text from his mum which reads: "Good morning my hero you made me so so proud, you're made me a very proud mum never forget that, the phone calls text messages was so overwhelming, I just want to see you and hug you.

"And also I am going to dance for you at church.""
What stormzy had to say:

"He said: "I am the first black British artist to headline Glastonbury. At 25-years-old I am the second youngest solo act to ever headline Glastonbury, the youngest being a 24-year-old David Bowie in 1971. I'm overwhelmed with emotions, this is the most surreal feeling I've ever experienced."
What stupid ignorant white men have to say..

"Did 'Grime' feature on this site some months ago.Was it not alleged to encourage gang cultcha, stabbings ,drugs and murder?"
In fairness Spath is right Grime and Drill are completely separate things - like Wagner and Abba if it helps. The fact some policeman doesn't know the difference shows why there is probably a problem with the police being able to, well, police.
This is Ed Sheeran collaborating with a well known Grime artist, Devlin. Do we think Ed Sheeran is in the business of encouraging Gang Warfare, stabbings and drug dealing in anyone's universe? No he's not obviously and neither are Grime artists, that's Drill, it's a very simple difference anyone can understand.
If we want to confuse them a bit more Calico, we could explain how Drill music is simply a sub genera of Trap music?

Is that going to far?
I wouldn't mind but my husband is 50 and American and my grandmother is 80 and they both know who Stormzy is and the difference between Drill and Grime, so it's not even generational it's just an unwillingness. Ralph Fiennes rapped Shakespeare with some Grime artists maybe that will help since he's tonally more acceptable to some :/
Unless one has a special interest, and after one's youth few do, subcategories of music aren't the thing one opts to study. I'd doubt that a large percentage of adults know the difference, nor care for that matter. They've moved on to other interests.
All this discussion about various types of music which essentially sound more or less the same is akin to discussing the various types and blends of Scotch which essentially taste the same. It's sort of snobbish, haughty, and simply meant to impress others. Anyway, they all, the music types that is, derive from reggae and ska.
"Anyway, they all, the music types that is, derive from reggae and ska."

That's not true. Music stems from all corners of the globe, from a man hitting a rock with a stick to Mongolian throat singing.

Regarding the scottch blends, when one type of music (drill) is specifically used to instigate gang violence, then it should be recognised as such. These sub generas aren't being used to impress, they're being used to describe the different cultures and vibes.
