Thanks, guys. And the original question (I mean my second question!)

No I haven't.
Question Author
Thanks, Baldric. Good reply.
Baldric .. how did you manage to come up with such an original best answer ?
Question Author
You came up with the best answer, B. I just voted it best out of all the rest.

Thank you Atheist.
Big Sky by Kate Atkinson...brilliant, as are all her books.
Question Author
Thanks, all.
Is that it, then?
I posted this last month,

`Deeds Of Darkness, book 4 of a set from Edward Marston.

https://www.goodreads.com/series/64405-home-front-detective

Set during World War 1, it focuses on Inspector Marmion and detective Keedy, trying to solve Murders in and around London. I've mentioned Marston before, for his Railway Detective series

https://www.goodreads.com/series/122037-the-railway-detective

Sometimes he gives you the killer on page 1, but most of the time he throws in so many red herrings, you have no idea who is responsible for the crimes until the final few pages.'

But it's out of date, as I have finished the Home Front series, and am on with book 2 of the Bow Street Rivals series

Depends what you like to read, Atheist...

Thanks Stephen.
'Any Human Heart' by William Boyd. Although I share none of the history or life experiences of the book's main character, it read as if the fictional escapades had been my own.
I've found it difficult to finish any book for ages. Maybe down to my age, or perhaps my attention span has been changed by modern life's continual flitting from one subject to another.
I find hard to read fiction lately. I literally lose the plot.
I’ve been reading books by surgeons and psychologists about their work.
i would change it and say "a hal full of echoes"
