Mine were done many years ago and i always wore earrings except for the last maybe 2-3 years. now when I try to put the earrings in it was difficult or painful because I guess the holes have closed up a little.

Would it be a good idea to get them pierced again in the same spot or could I try and pierce them myself.

Actually, JJ, I didn't need to get mine re -done, well the one, becsuse I noticed I had a little hard lump in the one earlobe. I got some hot water and squeezed it and out popped a dry blob of something or other! :-)
So it cleared...
Perhaps rules have changed, Spath. I asked this a few months ago. Maybe some places will re do it in same spot.
They don't seem to like using the same place, as once it is healing over, there is scar tissue and it is harder to do. They should advise you to have different place next time. If you can get earrings in at all still, I would try that first x
I'd do it myself as long as the earring went part way through.
So would I.

well the earring goes in not too bad right lobe - it is harder with the left. my friend told me to use ice cubes to make it easier - will try again myself tomorrow. thanks all again.
Jj get them repieced by a professional.
JJ get yourself a really thin pair of gold or stainless steel sleepers, use the icecube and then put the sleepers in and leave them in for at least a week longer is better. Keep them clean with plain water.
PS I have to do this about once a year with my ear piercings as I no longer wear earrings regularly
We all got our ears pierced with a darning needle years ago. Got septic ears at the time
I pierced mine myself in my teens, now I can go for many years and with a little pushing I can still get a stud through. I quite often just put one in at xmas for a bit of fun with my clients, never any pain or bleeding.

persevered and got the earrings through with a little pain but could only stand them for an hour - so will just put them in for an hour a day.
