Cool looking bug, but, you needed a banana for scale ;-/
Superb shot Zacs.
Question Author
1ozzy. Didn’t have one handy ;-)
Mamya. Thanks.
Great photo. I agree with ozzy. A sense of scale would have been good but still a great photo.
Excellent shot, Zacs :-)
That's a beautiful shot, Zacs....well done!

Remember to take a banana with you next time....then when you put it beside the dragonfly you'll have a great shot of.......well just the banana...... ;-)
Zoom right in on it if you haven't already done so. Its wings are just so incredibly beautiful. Thanks Zacs. Made my day.
I did,LB and the wings are beautiful......just like very fine hairpin lace...x
wow!! great photo
I’m not a fan of dragonfly’s, but a brilliant photo. How long would you say it was?
Males measure about 74mm.
Male Dragonflies...

:-)
Well, they *say* they're 74mm ;-)
Question Author
Yep, it was about 70mm long. Thanks for all the nice comments.
Where in Scotland? Frankie and I are in Perth.

Frankie has eaten all the Spiders in the flat and the Dragonfly might be an acceptable dessert. Unless it's big - he gets scared easily.
Question Author
Up near Poolewe, wolf. About 3 hrs drive from Perth. ;-)
I've never heard of Poolewe before.

Enjoy your holiday, pity the Orange blob in he sky is not in full Summer mode yet.
:-)
Question Author
Ta, wolf. Was beautiful yesterday. Bit overcast today but getting brighter.
Lovely photo Zacs.
Many years ago when I lived near Rochdale I was watching something going on in the square near the town hall. An enormous dragonfly flew by. It came back and landed on my nose!
It stayed there for a while, I didn't move, some people took photos. It eventually flew off.
