Prudie.

The diagnosis is either infection or cancer and antibiotics have been given in an attempt to differentiate between them....normal vetinary practice.
She will have another appt to view the response to treatment.
Dear Smowball
First sorry for joining this thread so late,My heart goes out to you.
As a long time pet owner, Cats and Dogs, I have lost count of the times I have had to say goodbye to one of our beloved friends.
It doesn't get any easier, sorry.
But once you first trust the vet to know what is best, secondly you trust your instinct. Sometimes too you have to take into account any (sometimes) very expensive vet bills which may occur and are they going to ultimately solve the problem, or just prolong the inevitable.
I am sure you will make the right decision for you and the cat. It will be hard for a while but I am sure you will, sometime down the line, extend your love to another deserving friend.
I still miss some of my friends when I think about them, often shedding a little tear. But there is always room in my house and heart for new friends.
Best of luck. X
When you undertake to love someone, or something, there is pain at the end of it - that's the bargain we enter when we give our hearts.

The hardest part of loving a pet is letting them go, but it's the best act of love you can offer, because you release them from the pain that will never get better, and suffering that will only get worse.

If the position was reversed, you can be sure she would do it for you.

Her pain will end, yours will continue, but I know you would rather feel pain now which will lessen with time, than let her feel pain, which will only increase until you release her.

It's time.

My thoughts are with you xx.
Yes AH, That is exactly what I was thinking and not being able to voice my thought s as well as you.
You sound like a person who's been down that road too.
