He should have stepped up then and done the job with that approach after Cameron resigned instead of letting a remainer make a ballsup of the negotiating process. As it was he chickened out because he didn't expect Brexit to be happening, and didn't want to deal with it.

Yes, when a volunteer was needed to deliver the Brexit they'd campaigned for, all the Brexiteers took a step backwards leaving Theresa May standing there. They're all to blame for the ensuing shambles.
I don't mind Rory Stewart. He's got a refreshing way of occasionally giving a straight answer to a question and the novelty value of that itself is appealing. He never had any chance of becoming leader though, especially with his 'let's revive the May deal approach'.

They’re fed up with being told what’s good for them (when it very clearly isn’t) and that’s what they’re having. They are fed up with expressing their wishes (either via a referendum of an election) and their wishes not being fulfilled when they vote for the prevailing side. Hey are feed up with a small cabal of people imposing their will on them against their expressed wishes. They are fed up with being told that they are too ignorant to understand the affairs on which they are being asked to vote. Will that do to be going on with? When the usual suspects continually ignore the electorate’s wishes the worm eventually turns.
